Class Trip – Highland Folk Museum

Last week we went to the Highland Folk Museum in Newtonmore to visit the first open air museum in Britain and see what it was like living in the 1700s in the Highlands in the Township area. We also went to the other 2 main areas – Aultlarie and the Open Air Section which taught us what life was like at the end of the 1800s and during the First World War.

The best bits were being pupils in a 1937 school, milking the cow on the farm, dressing up in clansmen clothes in the Township, building the frame for a Blackhouse and grinding wheat to make a kind of porridge!
